Special Asset Management SAM is establishing the not-for-profit Educational Institute with the primary initiative of certification programs in special asset (workout) management for SAM members. The organization has involved the Knowlij™ Network as the outsourced instructional design team to assist in the production and delivery of a professional development curriculum for bank personnel.

Special assets require a unique blend of financial and real property expertise to ensure their proper resolution. The proposed curriculum is designed to provide a solid and sustainable core competency in this real estate specialty. It is the intention of SAM in conjunction with the various academia's and related national trade and real estate associations to create the Educational Institute as a collaborative effort with each group giving of their core competency to the Institute. The collaborative partners will largely be responsible to provide and develop course content and media delivery. Culminating with national recognition of the range of expertise required to comply with the standards of professional practice.

Initially and ongoing, representatives will serve on the Educational Foundation Oversight Board of Directors focused on industry ethics, development, delivery and establishment of educational standards.
