This Hotline is being established for Consumers and Real Estate Professionals, particularly those involved with valuation of property, nationwide to speak with a professional for guidance in real estate related matters.

Consumers - if they believe or if they have been harmed by appraisal fraud, or their appraisal process has been tainted. Additionally, there will be assistance and guidance provided for consumers that are facing foreclosure or other mortgage, real estate, home inspection or related questions. Tax matters will not be a part of this service.

Appraisers - will be able to utilize this hotline if they believe their independence has been threatened in any way, including by undue pressure. Appraiser complaints will be handled in confidence to protect the appraisers from possible retaliation. SAM will forward complaints to federal or state regulators and act as a buffer to protect the identity of the complainant. In the future SAM may also forward complaints to state or federal law enforcement agencies for possible investigation or prosecution.

Other Real Estate Professionals - will be able to utilize this hotline if they believe they are in a situation that compromises their integrity, professional ethics, or simply need direction in finding answers to industry questions. Many times this may simply be a case of directing them to a specific agency better equipped to deal with their exact issue.
